UV light is short for Ultra violet light. Ultra violet light is on the upper half of the electromagnetic spectrum, above visible
light. UV rays are emitted mostly by the sun, but can also be emitted by man-made machines. UV rays are broken into three
different wavelengths: UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVA rays have the longest wavelength and easily penetrate the earth's atmosphere.
UVA rays also penetrate further into your skin that UVB rays. UVA rays are the most dangerous of the three. UVB rays are shorter
than UVA rays. UBV rays are only partially blocked by the atmosphere, and is the ray that is most protected against in sunscreen.
It is also the ray known to cause sunburns. UVC are the shortest wavelength. They are virtually harmless, as they are all
but absorbed by the atmosphere.
